Last firing before @celebratingceramics I am confident this firing will deliver some absolute beauties. I’m packed up ready to go for the 11-13th show as next weekend I have commitments. It would be amazing to catchup, please do come and visit. Thanks to those who are close followers of my work, I know you’ll be there - you know who you are - a special thank you 💫

And so the cycle starts again. The hints of beauty from my last few firings nudge the work forward. I am making these canvasses for the fire and glaze. It’s an equal creative application between these 3 processes

In the natural light the movement in this glaze combination is mesmerising. It’s good indoors but outside there’s a whole new depth to it, so interesting it makes such a difference. With thanks to @oxfordkilns for the project.

Opened tonight from firing on the weekend at @oxfordkilns with @neilhotchin and @fireformed2020 great to have @robinwaldenceramics and @toby1duncan and @wild.gorse.pottery at the opening. Photos are a mix of potters work. Overall a good result, high temps (too hot for a few) and some blushes of ash, a few absolutely stunning pieces but beauty is in the eye of the beholder - look out for posts of the participating potters. Well done Ollie Shield on the plates - top job, well made pieces 💫

Preparations for wood fire this weekend thanks to the amazing project championed by @oxfordkilns Pots all wadded tonight and the decisions on glaze all made. I’m firing with @robinwaldenceramics and @imogen_charleston_ceramics this weekend and @neilhotchin and @fireformed2020 next weekend. Pots making the cut will be with me at @celebratingceramics 11-13 July. Tomorrow is wood logistics, Sat morning the same, stacking in the afternoon, and flames from early Sunday. Looking forward to the calm of Wytham Woods and the network of potters and interesting people about the kiln site. The anticipation of wood fire is fabulous, the teamwork and fun in the process, and the thoughts of the potential results a great motivation. Good times ahead

6 jar show stopper for @celebratingceramics in Jul

6 jar show stopper for @celebratingceramics in July, come and visit. These are #jarrealacorde made with coils around a wooden armature and a rope wrap, which is designed to be removed during the drying stage. Reduction fired in my own gas kiln design to 1300. Shino layered glaze with inclusions from an iron rich rock from the Pyrenees. Individually they are striking, together the have a presence. Excited to hear what people think of them at the show. Almost done on this journey. Goal was 6 by end of March. I’ve made 11, 3 failures, 5 all the way through, 1 at bisque, one leather and one on the wheel. So excited to see the end in sight. Sooo much effort to get here - well worth it tho. Finished photos to follow on completion #jarrealacorde
